In the US there is no federal invoice format, but if you charge sales tax the invoice should show it as a separate line. In the EU and UK a VAT invoice also needs your VAT number and the VAT rate per line. The generator handles all of these fields.

Pick one scheme and never reuse a number. Sequential (0001, 0002) is fine for most stores. Year-prefixed (2026-0001) makes tax time easier. Customer-prefixed (ACME-0007) helps if you invoice a few clients repeatedly. The generator suggests the next number based on the last one you used in this browser.

Shorter terms get paid sooner: Due on receipt or Net 7 beats Net 30 for small orders. Put the payment method on the invoice itself, with a link if you accept card payments. Send the PDF the same day the work ships.
